She’s Glowing

Instead of doing my first Sunday Morning Coffee Chat, which I was planning on doing, I decided to share Aurelio Voltaire, who you should know by now on here. Not only is he an incredible singer, he also does a lot of DIY gothic and spooky home projects. Click his name here in his tag and you’ll see.

I wanted to post and share this song because the song is so beautiful. It is definitely in the rock and goth genre but the way he sings it reminds me a lot of the groups, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, and other 80’s groups. It also reminds me of the Airbourne Toxic Project. This is one of my favorite songs by Voltaire and definitely listen to it and check out his YouTube channel.

Music by Aurelio Voltaire

You might remember my post on my favorite spooky, gothic, Halloween loving channels,

My Favorite Halloween/Gothic/Spooky Channels and Spooky Shows

where I talked about the youtube channel, “The Lair of Voltaire.” I didn’t mention that he is a long term musician with a new album coming out. I just listened to some of his music and I really like it. He has a huge extensive musical and performance background. It sounds like a mix of the 80’s original goth movement mixed with modern rock. I love what I’ve heard and you should definitely check out his vid for his new album where you can pre-order it.

Sweet Dreams From the Gutter

finalcova

I first hear musician Dirk Vermin’s original band, “The Vermin,” years ago and I instantly liked them. I’m a huge lover of punk, and when I say punk, I mean true punk, not pop boy bands pretending they’re punk. If I had to choose another band that reminds me of “The Vermin” I would say Social Distortion who I absolutely love.

After hearing and learning about Dirk Vermin and his band, I saw him on a show that shall not be named. Dirk is extremely talented and I’m so glad I got my Bettie Page tattooed by him last year. Him and his new band, “Dirk Vermin and the Hostile Talent,” are extremely talented and pure punk and rock and roll. The album, “Sweet Dreams From the Gutter,” is a bad ass record and the title song is probably my favorite one although they are all good. I definitely recommend checking them out.

10 Looks For Summer: Outfit Eight: “Vintage Rock and Roll Music Tops”

Ok you all know that I LOVE MUSIC, especially Rock and Roll and collect concert tees, vintage concert tees from my favorite bands, and even new modern music tees that you can just buy in regular stores. If you’ve been following my site here for a while, you might remember a DIY post I wrote a few years ago titled, “Getting Creative with Concert T-Shirts,” where I show you had to transform your concert tees into different rent looks by cutting them, tying them, taking extra large shirts and turning them into dresses, and more. Here’s the link below in case you haven’t seen it.

     http://bombshell2016.blog/2016/01/07/getting-creative-with-concert-t-shirts/

In this summer inspired look, I took one of my music shirts and instead of pairing it with a pair of jeans or shorts, I dressed it up a bit to show that you can dress up and casual top, especially if it’s a rock and roll/music top. Here I show my favorite Beatles top and paired it with a classic blazer since the weather is starting to finally get a little cooler, slowly but I’ll take it. I paired my cool “The Beatles” top, which is my all time favorite band by the way, with my silver silk pants. I love these pants because you can wear them long or pull them up a little bit so they have a more Capri silhouette In these photos I pulled them up to show of my gold spiked ankle boots with my seven inch gold heels. I love these and who says you can’t pair gold and silver together? I topped my look with my black sequined scarf around my neck that my husband bought me on our very first vacation we took together to New York after dating a year.

How to Make Your House Your Home

I’ve been wanting to do this article for awhile now. I’m not talking about how your house will never be a home unless you have specific items. This article is about not listening to other people who are blatantly telling you what your home should look like, otherwise it wouldn’t be your home, it would be their’s.

To create an environment that you are comfortable and in love with here are a few tips and ideas. First, think about what your personality and interests are. Are you big into sports? Are you a music lover? Do you like Modern art, etc.?

Also don’t feel that your house has to have one style such as contemporary, modern, etc. I love mixing different styles. I love being creative.

Using my house as an example, my style is not just one thing. I have mostly vintage pieces mixed with rock and roll, movie posters that have great significance to me, a sugar skulls, and a lot of magical pieces and hanging art that both my husband and I did. My house is very eclectic. Even though I have more than one theme to my home style, I’ve made it so it all coincides together.

You don’t necessarily need to have a lot of money when furnishing and decorating your house. If you can afford custom furniture, that’s great but if you can’t, you can still have really cool furniture pieces by DIY.

For example, you can take a table, like a small TV tray table or a cheap nightstand from good will and decorate it with images that you love from magazines or clippings and then seal them with strong adhesive. I’ve done that in the past and have had great results with it. You can also paint and repurpose furniture. Goodwill, flea markets, Target, and consignment shops are great places to check out and search for hidden treasures if you’re on a budget. If you need help on doing DIY furniture, there are many youtube tutorials that can help you out. This image below is from a DIY youtube channel. You just need to explore different channels.

Another tip is that if you have your home a particular style but find a piece of art, a special object, or something that doesn’t go with your decorative style, but you can’t live without it, definitely buy it. If you really love it, you’ll be able to incorporate into your decorations at your home.

Below are a few items from my home in different genres just to give you an idea how more than one  style can work in your home.

Psychobilly Look One

I’ve never done a psychobilly makeup tutorial or posted a lot of my psychobilly looks on here so I decided to change that. For those who don’t know what psychobilly is, here are some definitions.

Psychobilly is a rock music fusion genre that mixes elements of Rockabilly and Punk Rock.

TheFreeDictionary.com defines it as “loud frantic rockabilly music.”

About.com  says that it takes the traditional countrified  rock style know as rockabilly ramping up its speed to a sweaty pace, and combining it with punk rock, sci-fi, and horror film imagery.  SO DUH, OF COURSE I LOVE IT!

As far as my definition goes as psychobilly makeup, I believe it’s taking the traditional rockabilly makeup and amping it up with  bright colors, different color lipstick rather than classic red, different color combinations, more eyeliner, longer lashes, etc.

Here is a blue and green psychobilly look and tutorial which is a color combo that I don’t use a lot in makeup. This look was a new one for me and was fun to do and play around with. MAKEUP SHOULD ALWAYS BE FUN! THAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING! IF MAKEUP ISN’T FUN, THAN REALLY WHAT’S THE POINT?

Enjoy and listed below are the colors and products I used:

EyeShadows:

First I used “Safe Word,” as a transition shade from the Jeffree Star Cosmetics palette, “Androgyny.”

Second I used the green color “EXU,” from the Urban Decay Jean-Michel Basquiat palette. I spray MAC cosmetics Prep and Prime Fix on my brush before dipping it into the green.

Third color I used was also from the “Androgyny” palette in the dark blue shade, “Swallow,” just about my crease.

My crease color is from the Jeffree Star Cosmetics palette, “Beauty Killer” in the sparkly blue shade, “Expensive.” I sprayed my angled shadow brush again with the prep and prime to make the blue glitter pop and put it in my crease and slowly dragged it down to the outer corner of my lid.

The last color I used in my inner corners is “Rich Bitch” from “Beauty Killer.” I sprayed my detailed brush and pressed the glittery gold in the inner corners of my eyes to make them pop.

I really love this color combination.

I did my eyeliner wings as normal but made them longer and more extreme. Underneath my eyes I took a small brush and lined my eyes in the two blue colors I used on top, darker at the outer corner, brighter blue towards the inner. I applied mascara to both top and bottom lashes and lined my waterline with Urban Decay 24/7 waterline in black.

For my highlight, I used my David Bowie highlighter from Bitch Slap Cosmetics and used blush from Stila in both “Romantic” and “Playful.”

Last for my lipstick, I used “Venus Fly Trap” from the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Chrome Collection. I normally wear my classic red lipstick with this look but I thought the green color was a fun alternative.

My look was then complete and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

Jeffree Star Tutorial and Hot Photoshoot

I did a hot Jeffree Star themed photo shoot today and it was very sexy and fun. For the shoot, I dressed up in the first piece of  clothing I ever bought from Jeffree Star Cosmetics which was the sexy black vegan vest with the  pink lip ammunition and star ensignia that you see here. I got so into this rock and roll themed shoot, I had to wear my hot, punk rock black and blue wig. Since my first JS clothing purchase, I have bought a bunch more. And don’t get me started on all the JS makeup I own. In today’s photoshoot, with the exceptions of my wig, bottoms and shoes, I wore nothing but Jeffree Star. I truly love all of  Jeffree’s products and when it comes to the makeup, all the formulas, such as the lipstick formula is top notch. It doesn’t make your lips feel super dry like other liquid lipstick brands do and is very easy to apply.

I’m losing count on all the Jeffree Star lipsticks (liquid and the lip ammunition) I have and will be buying more soon I’m sure.

The SKIN FROST highlights are amazing too and I already know what color I want to get next.

I could go on and on about how much I love Jeffree’s products!

Enjoy these photos from my “Androgny,” shoot plus my youtube video tutorial. PLEASE ENJOY AND THANK YOU TO FABULOUS JEFFREE STAR!!!!!!

Urban Decay Jean Michel Basquiat Tutorial

I was so excited to receive my amazing Urban Decay palette with the brand new Basquiat  “Tenat” eye shadow palette. I loved doing this makeup artistic tutortial and hope you enjoy it too.

The artist Basquiat really inspired me  when I was attending THE ACARDEMY ART  UNIVERSITY in San Francisco. From the  New York grafitti he did as art, to promoting and working in galleries, and of course his relationship with Andy Warhol.

Jean Michel Basquiat first achieved  fans as part of “Samo,” which was a grafitti  duo who wrote enigmatic  workers of the lower east side of Manhattan.

By the 1970’s  Basquiat was exhibited with his  neo/expressionist paintings in galleries and musuems.

He appropriated poetry, drawings, abstract painting and more into his work.

They made a film called, Basquiat in 1996 which includes Jeffrey Wright who played the main character, David Bowie as Andy Warhol, Gary Oldman, Benicio del Toro, and more popular characters, including a  Courtney Love cameo. It’s a fantastic film to see this artist’s journey and I definitely recommend it if you haven’t see it yet.
